The development of WiSTEM2D at ITA
The project focused in the following three areas
Training of ITA students
- Support ITA students in ITA’s Engineering degree program to develop skills, including technical and soft skills for the engagement and retention of the country’s best technical female talent.
- Engage them in the process of the project, as the main agents.
–Preparing and giving lectures in schools about STEM areas
–Together with some faculty members: developed and applied workshops based on hands-on and minds-on learning activities to spark young girls’ curiosity in STEM areas.
–Act as mentors for young girls in a mentorship program

VENDING MACHINE
Handy Availability + Automatic Replenishment
Develop equipment similar to vending machines for soft drinks, sweets and / or snacks, but that will have sutures of greater twist available to the client. Equipment will be in the “pharmacy” of the hospital, where the surgical kits are assembled

Self Sustainable Energy
Develop a model of a plant for the use of discarded water and generation of electric energy for own consumption

The DIY class was directed to learning practical skills and gain confidence to tackle simple maintenance jobs at home, not depending on someone else

Career Workshop with JnJ HR team at ITA

It was developed activities during 2 hours with the ITA WiSTEM2D team, about the following subjects:
- Self-knowledge
- The challenges and ways to surpass
- Thinking about your life goal
- Project yourself at the future
It was also developed some group activities.
Giving talks => developing skills for presenting information clearly and effectively
ITA girls giving a lecture to more than 100 students at Women Techmakers – a program of Google that aims to encourage women to enter the area of technology, talking about our project with JnJ, to support other women to participate, to expand their knowledge, and to become part of this change

This initiative was designed to foster creation of groups to support and attract young girls to STEM2D professional areas.
At least 3 groups will initiate similar programs: IME, UFPE (Cecine), and IFPE

- Website (https://itawistem2d.com.br/ ) in which we present the WiSTEM2D Project and provide access to some of the lectures and workshop material generated. The material can be used for free to disclose STEM2D areas
